Stop belittling either city after all we are (I am canadian/pinoy) filipinos from Region 2. To me a beatiful city is a place that is livable,(both cities are)amenities for recreations, parks and natures abound, neglligible pollutions, orderly taffic/descipline and most of all infrastructures and the people itself. Think about it stop bickering. My wife and I have been to several cities in Europe and South America. With their historic places, famous castles,majestic alps and rugged mountains, gorgeous fjords and ancient palaces. No place like HOME (Phlippines) R2, (Isabela). My wife and I are fortunate enough to be living in one of the most livable place in the world, North Shore of British Columbia, Canada, but we still long to see the incrdible beauty of Region 2 in the Philippines. It reminds me to one of the downtown city in Tacloban City, Leyte wherein traffic congestion seems to be a big setback. In Santiago City, downtown area seems to be so crowded. The two-way road were used by some vehicles as parking area. There were no specific drop-off point and waiting area for tricycles. Tricycles in Santiago are over populated and are partly the caused of congestion. On the other side, business is good in Santiago. If God willing, I wanna live in your City. Santiago city, by the way is the jump-of point for tourists. So you can expect buses in the city that can lead you to different tourist destinations in region two including the famous Ifugao Rice terraces. Its around 1 and 1/2 hour to two hours from Santiago city. Travel time to Magat Dam is 10 to 15 minutes from santiago. Dariok Hill is around 5 minutes from the city proper. Diffun Quirino is around 15 minutes from city proper. Aglipay is around 20 minutes from city proper. Solano Nueva Viscaya is 1 hour to 1 and 1/2 hour from Santiago. Cabarougis, the capital of Quirino is 30 minutes from Santiago. Tuguegarao is around two hours from Santiago if you will take the Santiago-Ramon-San Mateo road, and three hours if you will take the road going to Cauayan and Ilagan. Ilagan, the capital of Isabela is 30 to 45 minutes from Santiago.
