I am from mountain provinvce and i am so glad and thankful that this road got to an attention. It was a long time problem of people and tourist traveling which should have been fixed by our past leaders. Going to this places is just near but due to the hard road that makes travel difficult. the tourist guide,Katrina Manacnes, and I became friends and corresponded. I sent some books for her son when I visited with my brothers and Dr. Robert S. Laubach in 1996. Laubach drive in Baugio is named for his father, Dr. Frank C. Laubach who translated many of the languages into a written form. His book "Each One Teach One" was the beginning of a literacy program for the Philippines and later very many countries over the world. I would like for Katrina to e-mail or write to me. I pray for her. doriswlindsay@yahoo.com. or my mail address is noted above. I also have a friend, Dr. Conrad Zapanta who comes to the Good News Clinic at Babaue and also will be at Ifugao provincial Hospital in Lagawe January 31 to February 4, 2011. He does reconstructive facial surgery as a free service to the patients.

hi, to tourist who are scared about going to Sagada, we're deeply sorry about the road. We all feel the same but the government is doing their best to improve it. Going there is part of the thrill that's why it's called Mountain Province but i assure you, you won't regret once you're there and if you want a nice place to stay with private rooms and secured garrage then i recommend you to visit Gecko Inn. You can reach Gecko Inn by mail or by phone(09197261114) or you can simply email. Goodluck and have lots of fun.

From sagada po, pwede na po kayong, dumiretso ng baguio, may guide naman po papuntang baguio, pagbaba ng sagada, From Manila via Banaue to Sagda 13hours, from Manila via Baguio to Sagad 13 hours. then so it's better po na mag via banaue kayo to enjoy the view of nueva vizcaya, then go to sagada, then baguio, then la union po ang daan nyo going to ilocos, from la union to ilocos po 2 hours nalang po.

i'm a pure blooded igorot born at the city of baguio but then migrated here at Pangasinan. my father is from fedelisan sagada while my mother is from Bontoc. I would say yah sagada is one of the most beautiful place i have seen. once in every two years we go there for a family reunion. Sagada a place on top of the mountain, so cold and a so nice and peaceful place. a place with beautiful sceneries such as the caves found in there, the water falls, the ever green rice terraces, ideal also for hiking, photo taking, and aha perhaps jamming.

We've been in Sagada last Feb '08. We had the greatest time there. Worth travelling for almost 12 hours.. Our suggestion: Make use of the map (dont hire tour guides). We were able to tour the whole place all by ourselves (except for the Cave Connection thingy which really requires an experienced local to guide you through Lumiang and Sumaging caves). Here's Log Cabin's contact #, 09205200463. Dont miss the Saturday Dinner buffet there... (and dont forget to place reservations) :)

I remember that photo with a caption " Bridge shot from above", near that bridge is a rice fields which I've been helping my grandparents cultivating...that was when i was 6 yrs old.. Very nice to see that picture from you and i love to experience the feeling of working and walking (with a heavy load at your back like palay harvest and other stuff)that place again. It was a difficult for me then, but that is what life is. Have the courage to overcome these difficulties. So to all those who want to have some adventure,i advise you to carry your backpack and enjoy the trek. To people who originated in Sagada like me, make it a dream to come back. As the saying goes, there's no place like home. Suma-a tako ta mangil-an si nan entako nalpuan... God bless to all.

hi, im maria from Manila, me and my fiance is planning to visit Sagada this coming July 1st. Our plan is we will have our first day in Sagada then to Banawe and Baguio last. We just have 3 days to visit these all. I would just like to have an idea 1.) where is the best place (safe and cheap) to stay in Sagada and 2.) how to get there if we are coming from Manila. Is there any bus coming from Manila that will get us straight to Sagada? If there's none, please send me all the details about the routes (trasportation and fares) going to Sagada. 3.) is it more safe and less time consuming for first timers like us if we will hire a tour guide when visiting Sagada? Because we are also planning to go to historical places there. If so, how much would it cost us? Looking forward to hear from you guys, i know this site is a big help for tourist. Thanks.

To Loida, its me once again sayin' my warmest thnks to all of you.before i visited this magnificent place of sagada in mt. province i've been searching & collecting inquiries & information about this place because i dont have any more information about on this place.i saw your all pictures especially the rough road hi way moving forward to sagada from bontoc.some of your pictures i saw already when i visited the sagada last feb.10-11,2008.i saw some beautiful caves, some burial caves and its panoramic scenery of rice terreces.the people residence around here are so kind & very hospitality.i encourage to anyone who interested to visit the place of famous hanging coffins & burial caves i advice you all that dont be afraid also dont leave the sagada without exploring the caves.although the road is rough, its worthy & very challenging to anyone when you reach the municipality of sagada & its tourist landmark.anyway thank you very2x much loida & company,i already visited the sagada using some of your collected photos.thank you again & have a Blessed day ahead of you.

Well, Gecko Inn is a little bit distant to the Town but its worth it.. its so serene and tranquil.. its about 1kms from the town.. but the facilities there are very okay.. i saw their rooms and its so comfy.. its neighbors are churya-a inn and Yabami lodge...

I will be going to Sagada this coming Holy Week which will be next month. Getting an accomdation is really tough. Anyone out there who have been to Gecko's Inn? Just asking because I haven't encountered any review about this inn from Sagada travellers.

I'm going to Sagada this coming Holy Week. Booking for accomdation is quite difficult because I made it rather late (just now). Is it ok to pay in advance? Anybody here who know about Gecko Inn? Just curious because there's no review about this inn from travellers.

just been to sagada last november 2007,the travel time was quite long travel from dangwa station in baguio about 7 hrs, but i may say it was worth the long wait, it was trully an unforgetable experience, until this moment i can still smell the fresh trees from kiltipan mountains, and the picturesque views we saw as we trek going the big and small falls..we realised how artistic the people of sagada are when we visited the pottery center, we went to lots of spots there but the one that trully captured my heart was the breathtaking lake danum, i felt certain peacefullness when we reached the place, so quiet so serene..the coldness embraced my whole body which made me wanted stay a little longer to that place..if you are cheap finder for foods yet tasty i would definitely recommend haddeku and log cabin, but u have to make a day ahead for reservations at log cabin, they serve huge and mouthwatering homey foods..and best tasting lemon pie can only be found in sagada just look for this house as you pass going to lumiang cave, they make homemade lemon and egg pies soo yummy, not to mention the wines from gabay store, so for the drinkers better check it,for a nice place to stay go to st. george affordable yet the accomodation is rated A, i like the pink room. one of the best that i would always remember are the people in sagada...shows the courtesy they learned from their ancestor..haaay... last words..it trully melted my heart and i fell inlove with sagada..

We went to Sagada with friends in a Hilux 4x2 via Cabanatuan, Caraballo mountains, Banaue rice terraces. We left makati at 3am and reached Bontoc at 11am. Had lunch in Bontoc. Reached Sagada at 12:30pm. It was such a nice experience. The view was wow!!! We went to the caves. That was awesome!!! I love Sagada. Now you can go to Sagada via Baguio. The Halsema is already cemented till Mt. Data I think. We went to Halsema then to Kabayan last December. The road is wow nice!!! To all of you, go to Sagada!!!

Phil and Loida, thanks for sharing your vacation pics. It's just like i've been transported back home once again. I'm from the municipality of Besao but i've been to Sagada many times. Where is your hanging coofins and cave pictures? To all of you who wants to visit Sagada and it's Caves, I suggest the Sumaging Cave which is an hour walk from town. You will need to get a permit from the municipal hall before you go Cave exploring. Kentucky has the longest cave in the world, Mammoth Cave, but it doesn't compare to the adventure and the beauty of Sagada Caves. I also recommend the Crystal Cave. It's beautiful inside. Just be sure, you're fit enough to crawl into tight holes and passages.. hehe. When visiting the hanging coffins, be respectful and not open the coffins. As far as accomodations? Don't go looking for a 5 star Marriott Hotel in Sagada. If you want those accomodations, best stay in Baguio or Manila. Accomodations are generally dorm style. Shared bathrooms. But i'm sure you can find rooms with private baths. They charge mostly per head, from what I remember, it's very affordable. Bring an extra warm clothes or you can buy it there. Most of all, be respectful to the locals, and not wear short shorts or skimpy clothes. Those are generally frowned upon. Igorots are conservative and proud people. (Matago tago tako am-in). What province did Loida come from?

To those who like to trek to Sagada anytime of the year, this my advice. If you travel by your own vehicle, try to bring a 4x4 vehicle due to road terrain.IF you bring a sedan be sure to have your suspension are all ok and dont overload your car.If you take commute, take the Cable tours bus stationed along Araneta Ave.,OC.near St.Luke's Hospital. Call the owner for reservation 09185216790. The bus leaves Manila 8:30 PM to Bontoc. The take a jeep to Sagada P35.00 ONLY FOR 45 mins.ride.>

My family has been contemplating on going to Sagada in the next few weeks. We have no idea of how to get there, and if it is ideal to bring our own vehicle we tried asking arround from some friends who has been there. Unfortunately, the informations given where obsolete already. Furtunately, I was able to open your site and it gave me all the informations I've been trying to get, most specially the road conditions. However, there are some pictures that did not open. Thank you very much!

We finally got to go to Sagada during our trip to the Mountains in September of 2006. The drive up the mountain was spectacular with great picturesque views. The Barangay locals were working on their roads making the drive much better..
