I am looking for Norma Gonzales(Rosales?)who I met at Uncle Bob's on the Bario. She lived in a small house a couple blocks from Uncle Bob's and attended Nursing school at Columbo College. Her grandmother was MRS Gonzales who ran the Teen High Club downtown. She was managing Uncle Bob's on my first visit, managed Teen High Club on my second visit. She also said she worked with NIS which may explain the other last name. She also said her parents owned several grocery stores in Metro Manilla. We exchanged a few letters for months after, but when she told me I was going to be a father, I tried to seek help from my Navy superiors concerning how to do the right thing. After I sent one last letter of further inquiry to her, I never heard back from her. I suspect my Navy squadron superiors may have intercepted and destroyed any further correspondence from her, maybe because I worked on EA6-B radar jamming systems and had secret clearance. I know it has been 30 years, but it still burns me up to think I may have a child there or could have had a family. I have remained single to this day, partially because of the emptiness I feel when I think of Norma. If anyone knows Norma, please give her this message and tell her I would love to hear from her. I had a relationship with a Filipina girl who I believe may be the mother of my daughter born in 1973. She was employed at the Florida Club (?) in Olongapo and was registered with the bureau there. Due to no fault of our own we had a disconnect in communications in 1974 due to theft of my records containing her contact information and my returning to college in the USA. All of my attempts to date have been unsuccessful. It is my hope that in a more favorable political climate now, even after all these years, that I may finally locate her. I have asked for assistance and cooperation from the Philippine Embassy, the Health Bureau, Olongapo and Cebu City municipal governments, the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Navy Personnel Center. I was an aircrewman attached to Navy squadron HM-12 from 1972-73. The woman's name was Sally Cruz. I know that is a common name like mine is. She worked in Olongapo City during my tour of duty there and was my girlfriend (later fiance). We had plans for her to relocate to the USA or me going to RPI. I was living in Severna Park, Maryland USA in 1974 then moved to Daytona Beach, Florida to attend college. Her date of birth is unknown but I believe she was born between 1953-55 as she claimed to be 19 years old in 1972. She was born in Cebu and attended school there she told me. I have no additional information. She may have eventually married a filipino or american serviceman but I do not know if that is a fact. No traffic like Manila, is that for real? I would love to go there sometime this year with my family. Definitely i will have Subic on top of my list.
