Laoag City Arch, Ilocos Norte Province. They have their own Horse jeepney also called as ( Calesa) before.

Palazzo de Laoag Hotel,A very old Hotel

The biggest church in town.

We get lost for looking a hotel, about about 7 pm  when  we

find a best hotel under with a heavy rain.

Park lane Hotel restaurant, They have a best food there. The hotel parking lot.
Other room of this hotel, You cannot find a 5 star looks like hotel

here, The hotels in this City is just like an ordinary room.

Leave hotel about 10:45 am. Outside of the Hotel.

Outside it looks nice but it is a drive - Inn hotel

the only good hotel in Laoag City.

Entrance of the Hotel Park Lane. Phil block the whole vehicle behind us.
A horse jeepney and a real jeepney working side by side. Laoag City hall.

This is the cleanest city that we ever

been so organized.

Another one of the big and old church

in the Philippines in Laoag City.

No dark smoke coming out

at the back huh! Pretty neat.

North Luzon map from Cagayan Region to Laoag location. North Luzon Map.

The only thing I dislike most about laoag are the gay faggots running the beauty salons, who are overly friendly, then rob you blind! The cops are very professional and reliable...., thanks to chief sterling blanco.

I was born in Batac, grew-up in Laoag City and reside in San Nicolas for few years.I am a frequent flyer, I have been to many places in the world, beautiful places of New York, Parish, London, etc. GUESS WHAT?? I am proud to be a Filipino and no matter what I am proud of my NATIVE LAND.I read all your comments and there is ONE THING I would like to ask....PLEASE..., PLEASE..., PLEASE....RESPECT EACH OTHER. It doesn't matter where you are, It is not the place that counts, it's the people around you that makes everything beautiful." anya ti serbi tay napintas/guapo ken baknang a tao no rinuker ti panunot na"... "USELESS " Be nice to your country people man, Thank you. When I retire I choose to go back to the Philippines and enjoy the rest of my life because there is no place like HOME. I traveled to Philippines once a year, and I visited laoag City this April 2010, Yes, VERY NICE...and again there is no place like HOME.

i agree with nicole s/hawaii on the innacuracy of some of the captions... i do hope that those who visit our place would correctly their posts so as not to mislead our readers... the drive-inn hotel mentioned is just one of the new hotels... there are more hotels at the heart of the city... there is also Fort Ilocandia Resort and Hotel (i hope it is still in operation) which is the premier hotel of the province. by the way... Robinsons is not in Laoag City but in the adjacent town of San Nicolas... south of the river... enjoy your stay in Laoag... the sunshine city.

Some of the captions on the pictures are inaccurate. To name a few, Palazzo de Laoag is not a very old hotel, it is a replica of an old building but just recently constructed. The picture of the city hall is actually the Provincial Capitol building of Ilocos Norte. The 2 pictures with the tower is not actually a church but it is the sinking bell tower of laoag City Cathedral.

Cut it out guys/ please chill out/We are all pinoys ok (I am pinoy/canadian) but my wife and i still long to see the beauty of the old country Philippines. Each city or municipality in the Philippines has its own beauty/lfays. Capilalize on your strength and support each other. Life is to short. Grow up people. "There is always bigger fish to fry" Be civil to each other. There are more beatiful places in the world waiting to be explored. Meantime enjoy the exceptional beauty of you respective city or municipalities.

I was born in Laoag City and i love that place. About Fort Ilocandia Hotel, the rooms smells smoke. We are allergic of smoke and others. We tried to stay there pero it STINKS. We ask for a non smoking room and they tried. This is the funny part about asking for a non smoking room, the chambermaids rush into the next door where we get the reservation and removed the ash trays and spray the room with air fresher but it still wreaked of smoke. So if your plans are to stay there beware of the smoke. Outside of the hotel is OK and the inside EXCEPT THE ROOMS. I know some of the staff there and how i wish i can stay there with my family for a while and chi chat with them. Please have SOME ROOMS THAT ARE NON SMOKING FOR THE SAKE OF THE KIDS AND WITH THOSE ALLERGIC TO SMOKE then we can call FORT ILOCANDIA HOTEL 5STAR HOTEL IN LAOAG CITY.Thank you and MABUHAY.

Hello Pastor Wayne, It is just right and proper that you decided to build a Bible School in that city because I think they are the kind of people who really need one. I mean, if you go and read their comments and if only you can understand their dialects, you will be amazed how good they are cursing each other. They love hurling bad words against each other. I even felt sick just reading their comments. Gosh!!! That's crazy!!! EVIL WORDS INDEED. BY THE WAY, IF YOU WANT TO FIND A GOOD APARTMENT IN THAT CITY , TRY TO BROWSE THROUGH AHYER.COM THIS IS A REALTOR WEBSITE AND ALSO RENTING OUT APARTMENTS. GOODLUCK!!!

IThe person who posted this site was just sharing her wonderful memories of Laoag City. Any mistakes in spelling and wrong captions are to be forgiven. For those who can't take it, I suggest you subscribe to Conde Nast or Travel and Leisure. . . . Fort Ilocandia is nowhere near Four Seasons, "W", Shangrila, Fairmont etc etc...It has seen better days, no doubt about it. Just because someone said it is a 5-star hotel does not mean it is a 5-star hotel. It was the personal view of that person not the whole Ilocos Norte. We thank you for having visited us. If you plan on coming back, please check out the other hotels. There are plenty to choose from. Word of advise: Travel with an open mind, because each destination has a unique offering be it in Ilocos or any part of the world.

Sa mga nanglalait ng lugar, apparently yong lugar niyo is not to be proud of. Wala kayo identity to call your own. Meron ba kayo niyan sa inyo? nakapasyal na rin ako sa most of the so-called beautiful places in the Philippines. It turn out to be a hype, as travel magazine show showcases. Na disappoint ba ako? Hindi dahil alam kong it's not the place that makes it beautiful, it's the people. And if eople like you populates the area, then it's an ugly one. Filipino at it's worst. Crab mentality to the max. Kelan pa tayo aangat.

Laoang City? no "n" please... Fort Ilocandia is one of of a kind north of Manila. Looks great from the outside and the location is great tandem with a golf course. Thou admitedly needs upgrading inside. Outside Manila and suburbs, can you name a hotel comparable to Fort Ilocandia?

I am from Laoag , grew studied and lived for a period of years until i decided to work in Manila then migrate to Davao. Laoag is a peaceful place, beautiful beaches and lots of prehistoric spanish beauty spots. People there are warm and hospitable. They are friendly and very accomodating folks there and it is a small city yet progressive, clean city.

I think tama ho yung sinanbi nung dalawang nag-comment previously. We also went there and we notice na pati yung Texicano ay hotel na pala sa inyo yun.

What's up people of Ilocos Norte particularly Laoag City? Come on give us a break. If we can afford to pay about 6,000 pesos per night, ba't naman namin pag iinteresan pang nakawin kung anuman ang laman ng mini-bar nyo? it is embarrasing talaga. Ayusin ho natin ang pagpuri natin sa ating lugar at dapat lang na lumagay sa tama para naman hindi tayo nakakahiya.

Hi to all! Laoag is really great, the CLEANEST COMPONENT CITY in the Philippines and all you people know that. To Admin, we do have a 5 Star Hotel (Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino) and if you are referring to Park Lane Hotel as "the only good hotel" in our city, you are very wrong. I think you didn't research Laoag before visiting it. Sana lalo pa umasenso ang Laoag!!! Diyos ti agngina!

I'm planning to go home on Oct. and I would like to include the city in my itenirary. I'm also looking for an old friend of mine whom I met in Kalinga Apayao, his name is Nestor R.Calvan and he is from Laog City. I was born in Laoag but left shortly after I was 3 and returned over 30 years later to reconnect with the land I came from. In the US it's all work no play and in Laoag and Philippines, it's all play no work, lol. People are living and enjoying themselves despite the little means they have, which goest to show that you really can have a life with what little you have and still people are friendly and happy regardless of their circumstances. I visit Laoag and other parts of the Philippines as much as possible and when I leave, I feel a lost of identity and really miss the place, weird.

Laoag oh what a glorious and beautiful city ! Oplan Dalus written everywhere in the city. Well where I come from is no city at all. A small town in Arkansas population of about 500. I am always amazed at Filipinos and how they see us Americans , if only they knew how I grew up and in my place it so very similiar to this place , yet here in the city so much commerce and little sari sari stores around each corner, oh my gosh we had to travel 15 miles or more to get to a store, here just walk around the block. I Love it here, plan to stay here a long time. Friendly people here. I am even told that if someone tries to pickpocket me or mug me that I can yell out and start punching the thief and others will join in , as they hate those that do that here. I like that , thats the way it should be anyhow. Lots to see here for a history buff and the people are usually very friendly. I just miss the big open roads of home and the sidewalks , they need sidewalks here , the streets are where everyone has to walk, no real sidewalks to be seen, only in the main part of town. In a city of about 100,000 there should be sidewalks everywhere for safety. But then again the saying goes, only in the Philippines... Aside from a few minor inconveniences that Americans are used to on a daily basis , this place is fantastic. I see the Calesa's and fantasize that at one time this was a wonderous place , before all the buzz buzz loud buzz sounds of the tricycles everywhere. Oh how I would just love to have a day without the tricycles and just Calesa's in the streets. A Calesa driver told me once , " Its a slow ride , but its clean " Oh how nice that was to hear, and everytime I walk the streets I think of that , and wish so much these buzz saw sounding tricycles would take a day off and just let it be Calesa day . I wonderful Romantic notion of days gone by . The Calesa may be slow , but its clean and to myself, beautiful and romantic . To everyone reading this, you should come here to visit, its a place apart from the rest of the Philippines, a place very worthy of seeing and spending some time in. I Love it here !!!

ps I'd also like to suggest that you try to stay at the classy Playa Tropical Resort Hotel in Currimao. it's about 30mins away from the city towards Batac. real cool place. it's got an eternity pool facing the sea and a live band playing towards the evening. the rooms are done in native Bali inspired design and architecture of the cottages are similar to the Java hotel (more accessible) which is in Laoag City itself.

Hi to the web admin, I just wanted to point out some corrections on your post. Regarding what you said that Laoag City doesn't have a 5-star hotel, I want to inform everybody that there is in fact a 5-star hotel in Ilocos Norte. Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino is a 5-star hotel in Laoag City. The hotel has been famous to frequent travelers. It has accomodated many celebrities and even served as home for Ms. Earth pageant candidates who had visited the place. Fort Ilocandia is located along the shore of Laoag City. It is not along the highway. It provides luxurious commodities. It has a casino, an olympic size swimming pool and a golf course as well. One more thing, the photo you posted as Laoag City Hall was the city hall. It is Ilocos Norte's Provincial Capitol. The Laoag City Hall has brick walls and is situated beside the ramp of the bridge going South. To all fellow visitors out there, these are just some corrections!!! To the site's admin, try visiting Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel and Casino on your next visit to Laoag City. Thanks

I've been to Laoag City twice as delegate of City of Santa Rosa along with Mr. Mario Zantua of DepEd and Mr. Dennis Aquion of City Sports Dev't office sponsored by Hon. Arlene Arcillas -Nazareno our City Mayor, for Grassroot Coachers accreditation System Tier 1 and 2 of Phil. Sports Commission in cooperation of Gov. Michael Keon. I regret not visiting the beautiful places there because I stayed completely for the seminars only thats is why I have the feeling of going back there. I miss the empanada, the only empanada as big as half of a plate, and the people, they are simple and nice, the policemen,no bulgy bellies and so fit that even they are at their 50's, still ready to attend to the visitors protection thanks to the people of Laoag Capitol where we had our scholarship seminars. Thanks also for the accomudation of Gov. Micheal Keon for remdering the rooms of Laoag City Sports Complex during our stay there. My roots are from Ilocos too. best places to stay: JAVA HOTEL - the best value for money accomodations in Laoag City. Clean rooms, friendly and accomodating staff. Has its own bar and restaurant. And if your car needs servicing or gas, there's one right in front of the hotel. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) BALAY DA BLAS - the best pension house for those who wish to get that "home away from home" feeling... they also have their own cafe so you won't have to worry about food. Good bed and breakfast place. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) FORT ILOCANDIA - if you'e a foreign tourist who wants to be pampered, stay here. They love foreign tourists and you'll get pampered, especially if they think you are a weathy Taiwanese businessman... but if you'e just a local businessman or a local tourist, I suggest you stay either at Java or Balay Da Blas to get your money's worth...

For fisrt timers to the province, Fort Ilocandia would be a good place to stay. By day you can go where about and visit more of the beauty and sceneries of the sorrounding towns. Just don't forget to drop by Batac and taste there empanada. They are the original makers of the delicacy. It is more filling than the ones other town makes. Also visit our wwhite beach of Pagudpud, The Boracay of the North. The town is well preserved, virgin mountains, and several waterfalls to hike to and they are worth the walk. Visit our province will be the best way to experience our Ilocano Pride.

I've seen many places but Laoag specifically Ilocos Norte captivates me everytime I return home for a vacation. Development in the city and the province has been welcomed but most important we must remain vigilant in protecting the natural beauty of the city. Government and business leaders are making Laoag shines -- it should be that way!

This comment is in response to Catherine Pascua regarding Fort Ilocandia. We stayed at Fort Ilocandia for three days and two nights last Christmas. Our stay is very pleasant, the staff are very helpful (always willing to help). The rooms we stayed in are about above average. The hotel grounds...you just have to be there to enjoy it. We spent most of the time at the pool...the waves at the beaches at the time of our visit are very rough and windy. The hotel has a shuttle service that will pick you up at the airport and vise versa. All in all, we had a very enjoyable time at Fort Ilocandia. The breakfast buffet that was included with your stay is very good. Unfortunately, I don't eat pork and pork products (it was abundant at the buffet table). There are a lot of local fruits and bread. The "arroz caldo" is out of this world. It is very delicious. It would be safe to say that you can not go wrong by staying at Fort Ilocandia.

I was born and educated in Laoag City. I went to Zamboanga Elementary School (now Cabeza), then on to Ilocos Norte School of Arts and Trades (now INCAT), and finished my bachelor's degree at Northern Luzon Teachers College (now MMSU College of Education). Since I've known Laoag (before it became a city) to have been the largest municipality north of Manila, there has never been an event that tainted her name (Light), a source of power, wisdom, vision, inspiration, aspiration and enlightenment. I left the city in 1974, and I have been returning over and over again, only to find out that a big chunk of improvements have eluded me as I leave. Every time I go back, a bigger chunk of nostalgia haunts me. The serenity of the countryside, the beautiful smiles of dainty Laoaguenas, the smell of freshly cut rice stalks, the long stretch of rolling sand dunes, the race of calesas at Gilbert bridge, the city fiesta, the precessions during Lent, and everything that shaped my very being as Ilocano from Laoag have all trickled down memory lane. Yes, Laoag, I miss you. I will be coming back again and again. See you soon! Aloha!

i visited laoag city just last year. i didnt stay long for i had to go to another place to see a loved one. laoag city is pretty cool. the culture is still very rich though the city is still on the process of improving. i was amazed with the cleanliness and no traffic at all except when you are the heart of the city where you can find tricycles congesting and maybe, less crimes. however, when i ordered my take out dinner from chowking, i was shocked to see the reminder "BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS" huh!!! all the while i was thinking that such habit is just present in metropolis area. well, that is still part of survival.

I am a native Laoageno, from Dibua South, graduated from INNHS, and NLTC (now MMSU College of Education) but I still have to go back to college in the United States at the University of Hawaii and National University in San Diego to earn a bachelor degree here. I left Laoag for the USA in 1974 and I visited Laoag for 3 days only in 1997. I wish my family and I stayed longer for we were able to see only the new Patapat Road in Pansian and Pasaleng leading to Claveria, Cagayan. Very beautiful sight of Pansian Beach from this new road. I'd been planning to visit Laoag for at least a week on our next trip to the Philippines to savor the good old days and really enjoy the new sceneries, visit the INNHS and NLTC and other tourist attractions. My children loved it there and really preferred to stay in Laoag than the hot, dirty air and traffic laden Metro Manila. I keep abreast of Laoag City news by reading the online copy of Ilocos Times. I must say that I am really proud to be from Laoag and I always tell our friends here in New Jersey, USA to include Laoag as one of their itineraries when they visit the Philippines. Most of them did and their feedbacks were all positive.

I just want to correct the impression that Laoag City has no five-star hotel. We actually do! The Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino, an all-in-one resort hotel located at Barangay 37, Calayab, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. The hotel, to name a few, have a great accomodation waiting for you, reasonably priced room rates, good food from its numerous restaurants, a casino, duty-free shops, spectacular sunset view from its own private beach and/or swimming pool, lush gardens, a mini zoo...guaranteed to make your stay truly memorable and unforgetable! It's only a few kilometer away from the Laoag City proper, nine kilometers away from the Gabu International Airport and nine hours away by land from Manila (a long trip but it's the highlight of your journey to the north anyway!). Please try it on your next visit!

Hello to all my old friends and ladies of Baranguy uno. I am originally from California. I resided in Laoag off and on from 1998-2002. I sure miss it there. My friends Isa & Bobot,Lute & Hazel Morales,Cecile Felex & family. Loved the beach at fort ilocandia, Rizal park has a mini zoo and a pool were we used to hang out with friends. B-1 was my favorite place to hang out. Jenal are you still around? I plan to return put up a internet cafe,Dvd store maybe a night club later on.Buy a home and retire. Not sure if I'll do that in laoag though. I wonder aside from the Mcdonalds is there any other American fast food chains put up in Laoag since 2002? What other changes? ALRIGHT, CORRECTION IN MY COMMENT, YOU CHECKED IN IN PARK LANE HOTEL, NOT PALAZZO DE LAOAG. BUT STILL, THERE ARE LOTS OF GOOD HOTELS IN LAOAG. NEXT TIME, SPEND MORE TIME IN FINDING THOSE GOOD ONES BEFORE SETTLING W/ THE GOOD ONCE. SORRY FOR BEING RUDE, BUT CAN'T STAND TO READ YOUR COMMENTS/CAPTIONS.

YOU ARE WRONG IN COMMENTING THAT PALAZZO DE LAOAG IS THE BEST LOOKING HOTEL ONLY IN lAOAA CITY. YOU SHOULD HAVE SPENT MORE TIME IN FINDING THE BEST!!!!! . THEN YOUR PICTURE LABELED LAOAG CITY HALL IS A VERY BIG MISTAKE. THAT ONE IN THE PICTURE IS OUR CAPITOL. GET IT?!!!!!

A wonderful place to visit! Always wanting to see more! The people, clean environment, simple life-style, and a lot more, that would make you crave for another chance to experience the wonder it offers to the people.. Would definitely go back to this place, and would even retire here over the United States of America..It's a different feeling!! It's my HOME!!

The PICS LOOK GOOD! I'm sure there are other nice hotels in the city. Parklane Hotel must be new. Haven't heard that name when I was in Laoag.I saw Tiffany Hotel along Gen. Segundo Ave. That hotel looks interesting at the front. Doesn't look like much parking space at the front though. However, there are quite a few choices of hotel in this city. Not expect fancy ones. Or else you should have checked out Fort Ilocandia for fancy rooms, right?I know pretty much about the city. I've worked there from 1991-1995 @ Mister Donut - right at the corner of Rizal and Gen. Segundo Ave Streets. Yes, this city has progressed a lot since I've left. I love Laoag City. Hoping to retire there.

The only nice hotel in Laoag???? This is not true. There are lots of hotels in Laoag. Fort, Java, Texicano, Aurelieo's Mansion, Isabel etc etc. It may sound self serving but i have a 7-room pensionne called Balay da Blas Pension House. Very private with kitchen and private bath. Check it out.

If you are from Laoag, how could you not differentiate the church and the bell tower. Park Lane Hotel is nice but not the only nice hotel in laoag, did you went and see Palazo, fort ilocandia and many more.
